Peter Peterson's wife, Margaretha Hansen was a widow in the 1835 Schlewig- Holstein Census. It was stated in the engagement announcement of son, Pet er Hans Peterson, as the late Peter Peterson as his father. It was not stated with this wording w hen his daughter, Ingeburg was m arried in 1853. According to the 1835 census Peter Petersen was deceas ed at that time. The last name spelling with the 'sen' was from the Danish spelli ng as they were under Denmark rule. JHR 2003

Peter married Margaretha Dorothea Hansen, daughter of Matthias Hansen and Catharina Maria Hildebrandt, in 1818 in Drelsdorf, Nordfriesland, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. (Margaretha Dorothea Hansen was born on June 14, 1785 in Schuby, Schleswig-Flensburg, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, died on December 1, 1832 in Drelsdorf, Nordfriesland, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany and was buried in Drelsdorf, Nordfriesland, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.)
