He was born in Devonshire Co., England on April 7, 1832. His parents came to Toronto, Canada at his age 2 1/2 and lived there until 1841. Then moved to Kane Co., Near Elgin, Illinois. In 1852 w ent to Texas and in 1853 to California until 1855, when he came to Marion. He married Almira Hewett on November 4, 1856. They had 6 children: Hattie died August 14, 1864 at age 2 1/2; Ella A. (Mrs. John Dawson); Ed. C.; and Frank V., both marrie d; Gertie V. and Maggie M. at home. 5 brothers and 3 sisters: George in Kansas; William in Ada ms Co ., Iowa; Henry and James in Walker, Iowa; Chas. in Buchannan Co., Iowa; Mrs. Agnes Sovereign in Minnesota; Susannah Buck in Canada; and Ellen Bic e in Kansas. F. E. WINSOR: Was a wagon and carriage maker by trade. He was born in England, April 7, 1832. In 1852 he went to Texas and in 1853 to California, and came to Marion in 1855, where he resided up to the time of his death, May 8, 1893 . he was an active, energetic and enterprising citizen. He was married to Elmira Hewitt November 4, 1864, who with five children survive him. Francis enlisted in the Civil War on August 14, 1862. He was in the 20th Iowa Infantry Company F.
